We just got back...

from a mini-Spring Break getaway. 

We road tripped it down to Milwaukee to see family for a couple days and on the way back we made an overnight pit-stop in the Wisconsin Dells. 

We had lots of fun and now I have lots of unpacking and laundry to take care of.

Adelyn: 9 months old

Addy turned 9 months old a few weeks ago. She is truly such a joy to have in our lives. She lights up with this huge, toothly smile and giggles when we (especially, Jack and Owen) talk to her.  She babbles and babbles and babbles. Her most consistent words right now are BaBa, Bay-Bee and Puup-ee. I've been working real hard on getting her to say, Mommy, but no such luck.

She has five teeth and the sixth one has been breaking through for about four weeks now (not fun!). Addy had her first little winter bug this month. She had a terribly high fever that made her miserable for three days (not fun either!). She discovered that she has a tongue and has been having fun learning all the tricks it can do.

Addy wants to be on the move constantly. She doesn't care much for her toys as she would much rather be crawling, standing up at a chair/leg/table/counter/brother/dad or climbing the stairs. Oi!  She loves to eat real people food, she wants the good stuff. Cheese, raspberries, blueberries, eggs, broccoli, and avocado are some of her favs. She is on her way to becoming a good sleeper, but she is still waking up at least once per night. She must be a hungry little gal because she downs an entire bottle at that waking.

I can't believe Adelyn is as old as how many months it took for her to grow in my belly. These past nine months have just flown by!

Sunday Random

1. We are watching The Oscars tonight. I think this is the first year that I have actually seen some of the movies nominated for Best Movie and I'm excited to see some of the others. Here is my check-off list:

My favorite amongst those movies that I have seen was Les Miserables (minus Russell Crowe). I loved it and cried like a baby for most of the 2 hours and 30 minutes. I think The Impossible should totally have been nominated.  I loved that movie and cried like a baby for the whole 2 hours and 30 minutes as well.

2. And speaking of The Oscars, we all know it's mostly about "who's wearing who. And my top two favorites of the night are....

3. And speaking of "who's wearing who", I will be wearing this Old Navy Maxi Skirt when we go on our Spring Break trip next month. I love it so.

4. I just discovered InstaThis, a place that I can have my Instagram photos printed on wood or acrylic and in various sizes from 6x6 up to 12x12. I likey!

Addy and Owen playing before we head off to school. Addy is wearing these Hanna Anderson pajamas that she got from her Grandma for Christmas. These pajamas are great as they are lightweight, they come in cute patterns and they have a zipper. I found them today at Costco for a great price, I think around $15ish, which is at almost half the price. Gotta love that!

6. I also recently discovered Caravan Shoppe (thanks Michelle!). Lots of good stuff can be found there!! My new favorite is the Bicycle Poster. I'm thinking Jack might agree to it for his room. Too cute!

7. Addy's cheeks keep getting rosy red and dry. It really bothers her as I'm sure they hurt. She screams when we try to clean her face or wipe her nose..like really screams. We need spring!

That Smile.

That smile, that crumpled up nose, those chubby cheeks and those two tiny teeth...

 I'm so in love!!

(even if she woke up screaming at the top of her lungs, three (yes three!) times last night)

Brave.

Owen slowly got sick with each passing day this week. I knew it was becoming something significant yesterday when he had a high fever, his voice sounded muffled and he refused to eat all day. Then this morning, he woke up feeling worse and actually got sick a few times. So, it was off to the doctor we went. I explained to him on the drive over that the doctor would need to look in his throat and maybe even take a quick swab. I told him that I knew he could handle it because he is four years old now (I'm always trying to work that in). And from the back seat with a slightly trembling voice, I heard him say...

"Mommy, I am going to be just like Stuffy from Doc McStuffins. He is the dragon and he is always trying to be real brave. So, I will be brave just like him".

Oh.my.sweetness.

And you know what, he was SO brave! Owen sat on my lap and as he quietly wiped away his tears, he told the nurse he was going to be brave like Stuffy and he left her swab his throat with zero drama. I could not have been more proud of him. 

Sure enough, he has Strep Throat and after a couple doses of his antibiotic, he is already starting to feel much better.

Funny talk by Owen.

Owen: Mommy, turn up the music.

Me: What is the magic word please?

Owen: Abracadabra!

Owen: Grandma GiGi, I love you so much that I am going to eat you all up.


Owen's preschool has a curb-side drop-off/pick-up. Well, the little boy in the car ahead of us had to be gently pulled out by the teacher as he was crying and hesitating going into to school.

Me: Oh Bud, your little friend looks so sad.
Owen: Mommy, he must have just got a flu-shot.
